The art style in this game is called PETSCII art, sort of like ASCII art, but with the character set from old Commodore computers.
I found a Twitter post by Polyducks that had this unique look, which led me down a PETSCII rabbit hole. I used a program called REXpaint to create all the graphics for the game (if you're interested, Polyducks has a good breakdown.)
There was supposed to be one more room; the art was drawn out and the puzzle was planned. I'm not sure why I never finished it. I have that habit I guess.
The puzzle involved choosing symbols in order of the amount of lines each symbol is made of.
Some early concept art had more simplistic graphics with black backgrounds.
